My senior year grandson, Brady, graduates in a couple of months. I’m looking forward to watching him walk across the stage to receive his diploma and know Ruth will be with us in spirit. She and Brady have always had a special bond, and she was looking forward to sharing his senior year highlights with me. Sadly, she’s not been with us during this part of his journey.
He’s riding high and looking forward to his new adventure. He’s had some offers to play basketball at the next level, so he plans to play in college next winter.
He’s considering becoming a part of the track team this spring. The high school track coach has asked him to come out. He wants him to take a shot at the high jump and long jump. His dad, David, ran track his senior year of high school after not running since middle school. That’s Brady’s challenge now.
David didn’t like to run, but he enjoyed the social aspect of the sport. There’s a lot of down time at meets which provides an opportunity to mingle with both teams and meet kids from other schools. David and Brady are both social beings. You never know when opportunity might knock.
Brady had these pictures taken around the time of Ruth’s accident. I’m not sure she got to see them. She would be proud of the man he’s becoming.
He pulled out his finger guns for pictures five and six. The more things change, the more they stay the same. You gotta love it.
