Save The Date

I’d prefer this was a Save the Date for a wedding or a shower, but I have neither on my social calendar. This is rather, a save the date announcement for Ruth’s Michigan Celebration of Life. The kids and I held a similar celebration in Florida this past December. It went well and served as a precursor to this Michigan tribute.

We understand that we’ve chosen Father’s Day for Ruth’s celebration, but we’ve decided on back-to-back Michigan weekends to make travel easier for our out of state guests. My California kids will be flying in for this and staying through the next weekend to celebrate Brady’s high school graduation. We’re bookending two family gatherings. One will honor Ruth’s life and the other will celebrate Brady’s new beginning. It’s funny how life works out.

Ruth’s formal celebration will last about an hour. We’ve chosen 12:30 for those of you who have Father’s Day breakfast together. Father’s Day dinner celebrants should have time to make it home for dinner. That’s about the best we can do to accommodate as many as possible. We understand that some who wish to attend, may not be available. It’s not perfect, but that’s the plan.

Please share this news as you see fit. We’ve sent emails and texts, made phone calls, we’ll post through social media, and I’m using my blog to share the news. Some may find this a bit unusual, but Ruth was an unusual woman.
