Barnes and Noble

When I published my book, Pondering Life’s Lessons, back in the fall, it went on sale via Amazon and all other on-line purchasing services through IngramSpark, another online publishing and distribution company.  I’ve sold several books, but most sales have come through people I know.  You won’t find Robert Tebo on the best seller list.

I wrote a blog a few months back and shared this information.

If you’re reading this, you read my blogs. I hope you’ll buy my book. There are three Amazon versions: Kindle Reader $4.99, softcover $15.99 and hardcover $21.99. If you belong to Amazon Prime shipping is free. If you publish a book, it’s not. I have to pay shipping fees on the books I purchase.

I tell you that in case you’d like an autographed copy shipped to your house.

If you’d like one, and want it shipped, I’ll need to charge you an additional $5.00 per book whether you order a soft or hard copy to cover my costs.

If you order them from me, or pick them up in person, I’ll round down to $15.00 and $21.00.

My latest accomplishment is having my book for sale in the local Barnes and Noble Store.  They have my softcover book for $15.99, just like Amazon.  The Barnes and Noble books have all been signed.  If I ever get famous, the signed books could become collectors’ items.  Who knows?

I’m going to be one of six local authors speaking about their books at the store.  We make our presentations on April 13th at 2:00.  If you happen to be in the area, you may want to stop in.

I’ve got a couple hundred people who read my blog on a regular basis.  They have it emailed to them after registering on my home page or they read it through my Facebook page.  It’s not a comprehensive marketing plan but I’m trying to make a connection.  I want you to think about your life while reading about mine.  It’s a simple goal, and based upon my current book sales, you’re content reading my blog.

What I didn’t consider when I started writing was people all over the world would have access and may be interested in my life or the stories I’ve chosen to share.

I’ve heard from readers in England, Ireland, Scottland, Australia, India, China, Canada and a couple of countries in Africa. They don’t comment on every topic, but I never dreamed I’d reach that far. And, yet, I have.

What I’ve learned in the process is we’re more alike than different.  We like stories about people and events we connect with.  It’s not that complicated.  If we can get by the language barriers, ethnicity, color, political differences, and religious conflicts, we share a few common elements. We want to feel safe, enjoy a few creature comforts, and most of all, we want to feel connected. To love and be loved.

I plan to make that point when I speak at Barnes and Noble on the 13th.

  1. I think those are the reasons we all write, Bob. You have expressed that more profoundly than anyone I’ve read. It’s about connecting, overcoming differences, feeling safe and secure, loving and being loved. Thank you.
