About a dozen ago, our entire family met in Montana. We stayed at the bed and breakfast. Ruth and I slept in the main house while the kids and their crews stayed in a couple of cabins on the property. We had a great time.
We all went on a two hour horseback trail ride. Eva was so small her feet couldn’t touch the stirrups.
Everything went well until the end. Ruth’s horse got spooked and reared up causing her to fall off. She hit the ground hard, and I took her to the local hospital where she spent the night.
There was a Scottish games festival being held nearby. They’re called the Highland Games. It’s an athletic competition featuring caber toss, tug o’ war, hammer throw and shot put. The guys wear kilts sans underwear. It was there that I learned that I’m a part of Clan Stewart. It was an important lesson, but not my most important.
