Family

Edinburgh, Scotland

We visited St. Andrews yesterday. It’s the home of golf.

When the kids were young, Ruth and I took all three to the local par three golf course called Silver Lake. It’s on US 12 a few miles from our Lake LeAnn home. We’d go on Sunday afternoons. I don’t recall how many golfers I paid for, but we all played a bit. David ran ahead after hitting most of his shots. We had to slow him down so he wouldn’t be hit by a ball that one of the other players hit.

The thing that Ruth and I shared the most were the rules of golf. We stressed patience, (taking turns) golf course maintenance (replace your divot and leave the course better than you found it), and etiquette (don’t talk while others are hitting, don’t walk in their line of site, things like that). We knew our golf lessons applied to all of life.

We shared a lot of things as a family and that’s why I’ve chosen this tale about sharing. You may have read it before but take a listen.
